New Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Standards

Google, Microsoft and Yahoo recently agreed to “provide a shared collection of schemas” to better define the information contained on websites. These schemas (sets of HTML tags) will be used to enhance the meaning of the information contained on a page for the use by search engines.

As an example, an event on a web page currently has no meaning to a search engine other than it is a a bunch of words and a date. With the new tags and attributes we can define the event as a “Business Event” with the date and time it starts, duration, place, people attending, a description and much more information that is all clearly defined in a way that a search engine can readily understand. All of this while at the same time we can show the information to the users in the same aesthetically pleasing way websites are currently made.

By using this new standard you can enhance your website and improve your SEO. If you would like more information regarding this, please feel free to contact us or you can view the standards at http://schema.org.
